John Towner Williams, also formerly credited as Johnny Williams, worked as a jazz pianist and studio musician before starting to compose for television and film. Throughout his career he has wherever possible directed his own works.
He has composed some of the most unforgettable film themes in a career spanning six decades. His iconic music has famously lit up the silver screen in movies like Jaws, Star Wars, Superman and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
